Brayan Bello will make his 2025 MLB debut on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners, as expected. The righty has been recovering from right shoulder inflammation.
The Boston Red Sox announced that, to make room for the Dominican-born pitcher, they have optioned Zack Kelly to Triple-A Worcester. Kelly allowed seven runs in his last 4.1 innings and has given up ten runs over 10 innings overall this season.
Brayan Bello didn’t have a normal Spring Training while dealing with right shoulder soreness. Instead, he made four rehab starts between Double-A and Triple-A. He allowed 11 runs in 14 innings but struck out 21 and issued just 3 walks during the process.
«He’s commanding the ball a lot better», told WooSox pitching coach Dan DeLucia to El Emergente a few days ago. «He is been trending in a really good direction. We have had him for a couple of outings now, and he is really starting to put his foot on the gas, so to speak.»
Brayan Bello signed a five-year, $55 million contract back in 2024. He experienced ups and downs during that season.
In the Netflix film The Clubhouse, he admitted that he missed his family—who was living in the Dominican Republic—while dealing with some struggles last year.

Zack Kelly start of the season brings some concerns as he allowed 10 runs in 10 innings. But the are positive notes. His fastball average speed is still very good at 96 MPH. It seems that he made some adjustments that are not working like using his slider less than usual.
