Kristian Campbell hasn’t even been in the big leagues for a month, and he’s already passed a Boston Red Sox legend in the history books. The 22-year-old infielder has reached base safely in every MLB game he’s played so far.
But on Sunday, Alex Cora’s team had another star: ace Garrett Crochet, who threw 7.1 no-hit innings against his former team, the Chicago White Sox. During that same game, Campbell became just the second Red Sox player to reach base safely in each of his first 16 career games.
Campbell tied Red Sox legend Ted Williams on Saturday for the second-most consecutive games reaching base to start a career, with 15. Then he passed him on Sunday. Now he’s chasing the franchise record set by George Scott in 1966, with 26 games.

The infielder extended his streak in his last at-bat of Sunday’s game against Bryse Wilson of the Chicago White Sox, recording a single. The rookie also has at least one hit in 8 of his last 10 games.
Kristian Campbell finished the third week of the season hitting .309/.409/.491, with a solid .900 OPS, 2 home runs, 4 doubles, 10 runs, and 5 RBIs.
Los Angeles Angels’ Nolan Schanuel recorded a 30 on base streak in the 2023 season to start his career. That’s the longest streak in the past two years for rookie in MLB.

In other news, Red Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks pitched another solid inning in Worcester on Sunday as scheduled. He struck out one and walked one. Yasmani Grandal has also joined the Triple-A team as he begins working his way back to the big leagues.
