Luis Arraez needed 78 at-bats and 186 days to strike out in an official MLB game.
The incredible streak for the Venezuelan-born player came to an end this week when he struck out against Justin Sterner of the Sacramento A’s on Thursday.
Luis Arraez’s latest streak without a strikeout began in the 2024 playoffs. Japanese star Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck him out on a 2-2 count in the second inning of Game 1 of the National League Division Series between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
After that, Arraez stepped to the plate 20 times during the rest of the postseason without striking out. He continued the streak into the 2025 season, going to the plate 57 times before finally striking out against Justin Sterner.
Luis Arraez already had an incredible streak last year without a strikeout. He went 141 at-bats without striking out, and his career numbers are impressive.
The Venezuelan-born player already has 2,916 at-bats in his MLB career and only 195 strikeouts.
On top of that, he has more walks (198) than strikeouts in his MLB career. He averages one strikeout per 15 at-bats.

Counting only his at-bats and not his plate appearances, Luis Arraez leads MLB with one strikeout per 53.0 at-bats. Jacob Wilson (24.0) and Geraldo Perdomo (22.5) are next on that list, according to Baseball Reference — meaning Arraez doubles their rate.
