The Boston Red Sox offense hasn’t been successful against the Toronto Blue Jays in the ongoing series. They have scored only four runs in three games against John Schneider’s team. José Berríos and Kevin Gausman were able to dominate Red Sox hitters, but Kristian Campbell continues to rake in his MLB debut.
The 22-year-old infielder has reached base safely in every MLB game so far. He’s the first Red Sox player to do that in 12 consecutive games since Daniel Nava in 2010. Only six other hitters in franchise history have accomplished that.
«We have to be better,» manager Alex Cora told NESN after the 2-1 loss on Wednesday night. «We need to make adjustments. I trust our players. I trust our group. It’s just one bad night. We’re going to show up tomorrow and try to win the game».
Kristian Campbell was one of only three Red Sox hitters who managed to do anything against the Blue Jays’ pitching staff. He went 1-for-3 but struck out three times on Wednesday night.
However, he became the first player in franchise history to begin his MLB career with a 12-game on-base streak since Daniel Nava, who did it in 2010. He’s still far from the team record, which is held by George Scott, who reached safely in his first 26 MLB games in 1966.
Campbell’s next goal is to catch Red Sox legend Ted Williams, who reached safely in his first 15 MLB games in 1939.

There are five other Red Sox players who began their MLB careers with a 12-game on-base streak in the live-ball era, besides the ones mentioned earlier. They are Jim Piersall in 1950, Chat Chadbourne in 1906, Mo Vaughn in 1991, and Chick Stahl in 1901.
