Triston Casas out for the season with knee injury: «It’s a big loss»

Fecha:

Triston Casas suffered one of the most devastating injuries in all of orthopedics, according to Dr. Jesse Morse, a sports medicine physician, in a post on X.

The Boston Red Sox announced on Saturday that the first baseman is unlikely to return this season after sustaining a patellar tendon rupture. Casas was injured while running from home to first during Friday’s game and collapsed after stepping on the bag.

The Red Sox announced on Saturday that they selected Abraham Toro‘s contract from Triple-A Worcester. They also reinstated Brennan Bernardino from the Bereavement List and optioned Luis Guerrero to Triple-A.

Additionally, they moved Triston Casas to the 10-day IL.

«We need to be open-minded about solutions here,» Breslow added. «Casas certainly struggled in the first month or so of the season, but that didn’t change what we believe he’s capable of producing. It’s a big loss. He’s going to be missed in all facets.»
