Hunter Dobbins will start for the Boston Red Sox on Saturday, as expected. The right-hander was recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Friday afternoon, while Walker Buehler was placed on the 15-day IL.
Buehler is dealing with right shoulder inflammation. It’s considered a minor injury, but he will miss at least his next two starts. He was originally scheduled to start on Friday, but manager Alex Cora was forced to reorganize the rotation for the weekend.
«We don’t think it’s that serious,» said Cora to reporters about Walker Buehler before Friday’s series opener against the Minnesota Twins. «He will miss just two starts. Hopefully, he’ll be back as soon as the days [on the IL] are over. I’m not too worried about it.»
It was a busy day for the Red Sox front office. The team also announced that Connor Wong is back on the big-league roster after spending three weeks recovering from a broken pinky. Blake Sabol was optioned to Triple-A Worcester in the corresponding move.
The catcher spent 25 days in the Injury List and played three games in Triple-A before joining back the team.
Additionally, Kristian Campbell is expected to return on Saturday after two days of rest due to a rib cage injury.
