Kristian Campbell is expected to arrive in Worcester on Friday afternoon after being optioned to Triple-A on Thursday, according to Jeff Passan.
The Boston Red Sox have not yet officially announced the transaction, but it appears that Wilyer Abreu will be activated on Friday as the corresponding move. Nick Burdi also seems to be heading to San Francisco, as his WooSox locker was empty on Thursday, indicating another roster move may be coming.
«We are just going to meet with him, sit down with him, talk to him,» said WooSox manager Chad Tracy to El Emergente on Thursday. «Then we’ll go through a plan of attack over the next four or five days, possibly leading into next week, on some things we want to work on with him.»
Kristian Campbell won American League Rookie of the Month in April after hitting .301/.407/.495, with eight doubles, four home runs, 12 RBIs, and 18 runs scored.
But since then, the young rookie has been in a tough slump. In fact, over his last 38 games, he has only four multi-hit games while slashing .159/.243/.222, with just two doubles and two home runs.
«Those are things that we’re going to talk about together tomorrow,» Tracy added. «Nothing has been finalized yet, but I’m aware that he’s coming in, and we’ll talk to him tomorrow.»

During the last series against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, it seemed that Kristian Campbell was starting to emerge from his slump. However, following that series, the rookie infielder managed just three hits in 23 at-bats, prompting the Red Sox to send him to Worcester for a reset.
