The Boston Red Sox have opened a spot on the 40-man roster ahead of the Rule V draft.
Alex Cora‘s team traded infielder Vaughn Grissom to the Los Angeles Angels, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Tuesday. The Angels gave up OF Isaiah Jackson to complete the transaction. Both teams already confirmed the news.
Vaughn Grissom was the player that the Red Sox acquired in the Chris Sale trade a couple of years ago. The infielder dealt with some injuries. He only played 86 games between MLB and Triple A in 2024, but he was able to return in 2025 and had a decent year in Worcester.
Grissom slashed .270/.342/.441, with 13 homers, 24 doubles, 69 runs scored, and 48 RBIs in 96 games in 2025.
Jackson was the Angels’ 8th pick in the 2025 MLB draft, and he just ended his first professional season in his career.
The outfielder only played 10 games in High-A where he slashed .219/.324/.344, with one double and one homer.
