The Boston Red Sox are looking for a new third baseman, and their newly acquired first baseman Willson Contreras could help them get one.
Some media reports have linked Eugenio Suárez to the Boston Red Sox. The sides had a meeting in Orlando during December’s Winter Meetings. Now that Alex Bregman and Rafael Devers are gone, the Venezuelan slugger could be an option.
“I haven’t talked to him in a few days», said Contreras in a Zoom presser on Wednesday. «We are really close. We are friends. Eugenio is one of my best friends around. He is a great guy, a great hitter. We will see what we can do about him coming to Boston.”
Willson Contreras and Eugenio Suárez share more than their birthplace — they are also both represented by Octagon.
Now Suárez could be one of the options the Red Sox bring to the team after Alex Bregman and Rafael Devers left the organization.
Bregman recently signed a five-year contract with the Chicago Cubs, just a few months after Devers was dealt to the San Francisco Giants.
Suárez had his second 49-homer season in 2025. He also posted career highs with 118 RBIs and a .824 OPS between Arizona and Seattle.
