Triston Casas has played 62 games over the past two seasons for the Boston Red Sox, and he is still recovering from a rupture in his patellar tendon that he suffered almost a year ago.
The infielder has already started running, sliding, and hitting, but he has yet to put it all together in a game. He doesn’t have a timetable for his return to the field: «but I am definitely closer to the end that I am in the begining.»
«I have such of an appreciation having the ability to go out there and play the game,» Casas told El Emergente. «Sometimes, I got cut up on the results and, you know, how I do. Whether we won, but really it’s just about being healthy, having fun and enjoying the time with my teammates, creating bonds and having everybody feels like family.»
Casas suffered a fractured rib in 2024 and then, on May 1st, 2025, while running to first base on a ground ball, he ruptured the patellar tendon in his left knee, which resulted in a season-ending injury.
«It’s being challenging mentally and phisically,» Casas added. «But I had a lot of people on my corner, giving me confidence when I didn’t have it. I rely on my teammates a lot to keep me positive throughout this time So many people messaging me to keep my spirits up. That’s help me a lot.»
Earlier in the year, the Red Sox acquired Willson Contreras to play first base for the team in 2026.
Triston Casas said back in January that right after the trade, he got a call from the front office to let him know that they still are counting with him.
«The last couple of years have been tough,» Casas said. «But, you know, more than anything, I have been just learned who has been on my corner the whole time. I have being battling injuries weirdly for a while now, but I think this year is gonna be better.»

Triston Casas didn’t want to set a date for his return. «I am gonna play and play well,» he said. «I am starting to see the ball better in my at-bats. The quality of contacts have been progresively better throughout by training. So just gonna keep building on, you know, what I’ve been working on.»
