Aroldis Chapman has thrown 21 pitches in the 2026 season. None of them have reached 100 MPH so far.
His fastest pitch on Tuesday was clocked at 96.8 MPH. He forced Brewers hitter Blake Perkins to ground into a game-ending double play to earn his third save of the season.
“He is fine,” Alex Cora said after the Boston Red Sox beat the Brewers 3-2. “He said the ball didn’t feel great. you know, like, it felt, you know, with the weather, it was tough, but we’ll check on him, but he’s healthy.”
That fastball against Perkins is the slowest one he has thrown in the Statcast era, according to Baseball Savant.
But Cora didn’t seem worried about him.
It’s also true that the Cuban Missile has pitched only three times since March 28.
In other news, Cora announced that Justin Slaten has been dealing with some right oblique soreness.
And he hasn’t had any information regarding Johan Oviedo’s MRI.
